    Day 12, Salinas – The last special event of our reunion with Berkeley was meeting Heather, his fiancée. We packed up the car and rendezvoused at a café as we headed north again. Heather is a lovely, beautiful lady and we enjoyed getting to know her in our short time together. Her son is in Europe and has visited a few of the places we were last summer, so we had a lot in common to chat about.

    ... driving as we took the beautiful scenic drive from our house in Moss Beach to just north of Monterey. Plenty of oohs and ahhs from Anne and I as we watched Pacific waves crash up on the California coast for the length of the hour and a half drive. The kids - eh - not so much.

    ... As we drove into town, there were garlic, cherry and strawberry stands , one after another. After dinner we stopped and bought bing cherries, then headed to Safeway for some groceries.
