Day 12, Salinas – The last special event of our reunion with Berkeley was meeting Heather, his fiancée. We packed up the car and rendezvoused at a café as we headed north again. Heather is a lovely, beautiful lady and we enjoyed getting to know her in our short time together. Her son is in Europe and has visited a few of the places we were last summer, so we had a lot in common to chat about.

As we drove around, the pungent aroma of garlic was definitely in the air. I’d rather smell this than feedlots, that’s for sure!
