FIRST CASUALTY

... Capital and attend the dawn service. Todd - we found were Easts have pumped their money - its here in the caravan park (note the name) or Lee - maybe your rooters have invested here. After checking out the locals it does remind us a bit of Todds old football team. and Ps - Rach - love the stick!! Was awesome - cant believe you found the babysitting blues!! Thanks so much xx

... Wallabies to our site. Our neighbors had a more intimate visit one evening, some possums invited themselves into their annex and ate all of their fruit. Just a short drive away is a great spot, highly recommended to us, called Pebbly Beach. Upon arriving and walking on the sand we were a little puzzled as to why it was called Pebbly Beach as there was not a pebble to be seen, it wasn't until we got down to the water and the rock ...

Batemans Bay - and Ozzy switches!!

We left Sydney and headed down the Princes Highway and gave the campervan it's first good outing. I surprised myself with how easily I took to driving it, apart from when I carried on driving straight because I decided that the left I should have taken was too tight!! We stopped off at a few places for photo opps and drinks, and made it to Batemans Bay in about 4hrs. The caravan park was pretty good, right next to the water and only 10 minutes walk from ...

... pizza and washed it down with our cold Aussie beer... completely unaware of teh sign bannign alcohol in public located just 5m away from us. And the morale of the story: don't ask persons who looked underage for advice on drinking in public.... Enjoying a good laugh about our 'criminal behaviour', we decided to pay Canberra and Mt Kosiuzko National park a visit starting from next day.

... water and (so the locals claim) the whitest sand in the world. We saw an eagle flying over the bay which was pretty amazing. We had a nice night time walk along the beach but sadly not much sleep as there was over six hours of storms and torrential rain - quite scary when you're sleeping in a little van! If it's lovely weather tomorrow we stay in Jervis Bay, if it's not we head to Sydney. Have a feeling it's Sydney here we come...

... light it, it goes woooof". We thank him profusely as we load wood onto the lovely warming glow of the, now burning, fire. "No worries, can't see you going hungry can we?" he says as he strides back to his site. What a lovely man, a top Ozzie bloke. The fire went a right treat, it lasted us all night and provided us with heat to cook pasta and the Bolognese sauce we'd purchased to go with it. It also lasted long enough to keep us warm while we ate and drank in the dark ...

I'm back.....................

... a big and drunken fairwell to sydney, so drunken infact that when we got back to our room i actually fell straight of the top bunk, scarping my back rather ungracefully as i fell with a thud to the ground and man o man that hurt the next day... oops! So, with our hangovers we headed to the travellers autobahn to get what was to be our home for the next 10 days our brand new spanking campervan! We waited a fair while and then got the home on 4 wheels and as the guy was ...

... fondly by David who was up for most of the night watching England win The Ashes on our little TV screen whilst I slept through almost all of it, being woken up by the one-man barmy army unable to contain his glee around 4am. Still, it gave us an excuse for a celebration when we got to Eden where we lived it up with some local oysters after visiting the killer whale museum.

... and a prolongued parrot feeding session Rene and I took the boys for a walk to shell beach while Jim and Sharon loaded the car ready for off. Half an hours walk along the coast, shell beach is a small beach full of shells. for seven months, Rene has been deprived the luxury that is ertail therapy and with shoplifting not really an option in S.E.Asia (get caught, lose a hand) she started collecting shells. Pretty, colourful and free, the magpie in her just couldn't resist, she's ...
