Day 1: we farewell Brian's Chicago apartment in the morning and head out for Ann Arbor. The drive was about 6 – 7 hours. Once we get to Ann Arbor we are nervous about getting accommodation since there was a beer fest going on that weekend. At the first exit we get off, I am told that no hotel at this exit has vacancy and that our best bet was to head to the south side of the city. We took her advice and jumped back into the car. Enjoying the beginning of some beautiful summer weather, here at our membership resort, and a half hour away at my sister Jill's house in Ann Arbor.

Fun to see Aunt Helene and Uncle Ray, and to celebrate both of our birthdays with Jill and Nate. Even got to spend an evening at the first night of Ann Arbor's annual "Top of the Park" music fest - and a highlight was attending Carmen, performed by the Arbor Opera Theatre!
