... Also, I'm beginning to realize its not just PA that smells like a big pile of manure but pretty much every gas station we stop at. Can't wait to get to those mountains!! Lincoln was a ghost town when we got there not much to do or see. The hotel was similarly empty. My extremely exciting day came to end with a viewing of part I of the csi trilogy. I bet you can hardly wait for tomorrow's update...

Today started like many a man's dreams have. Yep, at the John Deere Commons. Drool guys, drool. Here there is a nice mini museum covering the line of John Deere farm equipment. And right next door is the John Deere Store. The store has more John Deere items for sale than any Cracker Barrel store I have ever been in. You name it, they have it. Including a very nice set of hand linens ...
Lincoln, Nebraska, United States mikeandsandy... with period dress and pioneer demonstrations. (At least that's what Tish told Tom.) So we made the trek south of I-80, our concerns growing as we passed a series of cheesy signs for "Harold Warp's Pioneer Village." (Harold Warp made big money as the inventor of Flex-o-glass, for those of you trivia buffs in the crowd.)
Well...our fears were realized ...
We traveled north through Oklahoma and Kansas (via I 35;I 135; US 81) for 12 hours. Finally, after traveling for 12 hours, we found a place to stop!!! It was nice having our RV to just park. It was 48 degrees, Tuesday Morning, in Grand Island, NE!!!
Grand Island, Nebraska, United States kbwebster1Today, Friday, was another driving day. OK Nebraska rivals Nevada for the worst state ever to drive through! We already described Nevada. Nebraska is desolate and flat the sand of Nevada is traded for wheat fields. Fortunately today was a short (320 mile) day. We arrived in Grand Island at around 5:00 and immediately headed for the pool. It was hot outside. We swam, ate dinner and swam some more. The night was ...
Gaston, tu y ...
Minden, Nebraska, United States bogit... and hubby is the one that's up early and raring to get back on the road and I'm the one that could use a few more hours of sleep. Looks like the rest of our drive back will be without detours; from here on we've pretty much seen everything that is close enough for a short detour from the highway. Hubby would prefer that I just read my book and let him drive and and stay out of my maps and AAA books looking for something interesting.
Laramie, Wyoming, United States funmilesAhhhhh, IHOP. How we love thee! We decide to start the morning right - with enormous breakfasts. It's overcast and for some reason, I'm not surprised. We didn't get off on the right foot with this state, but we thought that Lincoln (which we finally reached at ...
Lincoln, Nebraska, United States cheekymonkey... gear kept us dry. We also had 25+ cross winds most of the way. As you would suspect we were the only motorcycles on the road until Des Moines and even then fellow riders were scarce. It was great to wake up to sunny and dry weather this morning. We are going to tour Lincoln a bit this morning and leave for western Nebraska early afternoon. Penny
