We're still enjoying the Monterey Bay area -- yesterday we were at the southern end in Monterey and today at the northern end in Santa Cruz. Both were interesting towns -- beachy, boaty, touristy, and trafficy with the striking natural beauty of the Pacific coastline. While driving to Monterey we drove by a big strawberry farm with migrant workers picking the berries -- ymmm! As you can see in the picture, they even have ...

... with numerous standup oil wells, most of which were not operating when we drove by. Then we got to the Salinas Valley -- rich fertile irrigated soil with huge vineyards and huge farms growing red and green lettuces, artichokes, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, greens -- you name it. We couldn't even identify all that was growing! Agriculture is definitely alive and well in this beautiful valley! These ...

There was not a hope in hell that I was going to last another night in Yosemite.. As waking up during the night I thought I was going to be frozen to the van! After a quick breakfast of porridge to warm us up it was time to hit the road. By 9am we had left Yosemite National Park and continued the drive down H140 along the whole valley floor. Once out of the national parks we hit the longest and flattest roads with orchards expanding either side for miles on ...

... blacksmith doing his work. Then it was to the airport, and we made 3 stops at various terminals to let people off, ready for their trips back to places all over America. We were back at the Hyatt Hotel in San Francisco by about 1.30pm, and caught a taxi to the Baldwin Hotel - 321 Grant Avenue. Our room is very basic. The shower is over the bath, which has claw feet......the basin just has pipes under it - no bench space anywhere in the bathroom. There is ...

On Thursday we drove to Scotts Valley to visit my son Adam. We stayed at the Santa Cruz Ranch RV Resort. He came to the motorhome after work and we went out to dinner. After that he took us on a driving tour of Santa Cruz. On Friday we had a great breakfast down by the wharf and did more touring of the coast area. Adam is very good at showing us around to all the ...
