Best Western Columbia

Today we toured Mammoth Cave, It got its name cause it so huge 371 miles discovered so far. We toured for 4 1/2 hours seeing 4 miles. If you think vacationing is a good way to get out of work, not today!!!, It was steep inclines, 700 plus stairs and like being in a sauna. Heck I probably loss weight today. Left Bowling Green this AM headed for Memphis. First day in a week that it has not rained. The campground we left was very muddy and full of ruts. Worse thing though.... during the night someone siphoned fuel from our truck- over a half of tank. As result we will NEVER ...

The museum has a representation of every generation of Corvette with many photos of the men responsible for the evolution of the vette.

Next stop- Searching for Tom Sawyer along the Mississippi River.

Drove down from Taylorsville in the pouring rain but thank goodness it was not a very long trip as it was only 125 miles.

The campground was easy to find - right off I 25. We enjoy staying at the state parks but they are often off the beaten path (as we learned from our previous stop). These KOA's are easier to get to but lack the beauty and solitude of nature.

We stopped in at Bardstown along the highway to look at the civil war museum and the historic original Bardstown. They'd moved some old bulidings from around the area to the one spot and it was a bit like the Telegraph Station in Alice Springs where you could walk around looking into them and seeing how people used to live.

... frazzeled nerves but othewise safely.

Taylorsville State Park is lovely. The park is very quiet and peaceful. There is not much to do there other than walk trails but the park itself is very pretty. They have 30amp service and water but no sewers. The lots are nicely spaced and it was not crowded. The bathrooms were immaculate and the staff was very friendly and courteous.

We stayed until Tuesday and next stop is Bowling Green, KY.
