We left Sydney on 3rd January heading up the East Coast. We decide to head as far north as we could and then take our time coming back. As has often happened (in Japan and Malaysia) we realised that we were amidst a public holiday, and as we started to leave Sydney we found ourselves in queues of traffic heading to the coast. Obviously, on this side of the world the children have their summer holidays at this time of year and don't return to school until the end of January. In addition, it wa...

... with some Aussie hillbillies and had kind of a fun night... in a Deliverance-y kind of way. They stayed up much longer than we did because we had a lot of driving to do the next day, but it was an interesting one night. More to come when we finally make it to Airlie Beach.

We found every satellite in the sky except for C1 (Foxtel/Austar satellite). We spent three valuable hours searching for the elusive satellite but to no avail. We probably have the wrong LNB an ooger ma flip that amplifies the signal from the satellite. However, these critters work on different frequencies and as ...

Nevertheless, it was a very clean and tidy, well equipped site. I met a lovely couple of sisters who I guess were in their sixties (How old? - TP) One of them had emigrated to Australia 40 years ago and they had not seen each other for 22 years and were having a fabulous time ...
... to you with nothing and no one else around is just weird! We had another bug shower that we almost mistook for rain again (just after fabrice had cleened the windscreen ha ha! We pulled into the camsite and I set up tent and slept. In the morning we awoke to find ourselves in a lovely campsite - it was huge and next to the river so we spent a fair few hours in the oring just jchilling out reading boks - it was cool. Now its time to head off!
Gladstone, Queensland, Australia stubo... my travel log again, as I was seriously falling behind. While on the way back in from town, one of the Irish girls asked me if I wanted to work 4 hours tonight, just washing dishes for $12 an hour. I said yes, since I had nothing else planned. Only one problem was that I had to cycle home afterwards. Wouter was also washing dishes, well he washed and I dried. After work I asked if I could come back for the next 2 ...
Town 1770, Australia ger1... briefings on how to drive, where to go and what to do/not do, then off we went 3 english, 2 french 1 german and 4 swiss, to Fraser Island. I somehow became the designated driver although there were 6 of us able to drive, the 'roads' were just a series of holes, bumps, lumps and fallen trees, with helping of loose sand to spice it up. The four vans that left from our hostel stuck together seeing the sights, Lake McKenzie, Champagne Pools, Indian ...
Harvey Bay, Australia adzbardoe... spent the day there, it had great swimming conditions, massive waves but not as violent as at Noosa. Then we took the short drive to see 1770...that took 5 minutes!!! Although it was a scenic drive to the headland, i've never been to a smaller town, which consists of 1 cafe and a marina. So back to Agnes Water, where we remained for the next 3 nights. We had a great time, even though each day was similar to the previous; By day ...
1770, Australia will_waldron... can run with as many as 24 people, but we were incredibly lucky to be part of a small group of 6 - me and Michelle, newlyweds Jade and Simon who live in South Croydon, and Niamh and Orla from Sligow in Ireland. We really gelled as a group and got on well, which really made the tour what it was, along with a great tour guide in Alex (have I mentioned him?! ;o)). Our accommodation at the Cathedral Beach campsite was also very impressive - large roomy tents with ...
