Next day we visited the NZ Air force museum. Peter was quite excited about this as they have a Mosquito simulator. He had four goes in this but only succeeded in sinking 7 destroyers in 20 minutes after crashing into them on several occasions. I don’t think he would get a job with the air force. We went on a behind the scenes tour with a couple of elderly enthusiasts who did more of an informal chat rather than a guided tour. They were ...

... to our vehicle around 2pm. We were heading back to Staveley for our prepared lunch when the other family realized that one of their phones was missing, and must have fallen out at Edoras. We did not have time to turn back as our driver had another job to get to that evening, but they would be able to drive back to the spot themselves with their own car. We had our late lunch around 3pm and were very hungry by that point. Then we dropped the family off back at Methven. ...

... yet to encounter a bad couchsurfing experience.

I’ve stayed with single males, single females, couples, pairs or triples of friends living together, you name it. They were usually under the age of 30, and each offered me a unique experience. I slept on couches, futons, pieces of foam on floors, and even a real bed, once! My hosts often toured me around their city, took me out with their friends at night, cooked for/with me, gave me sightseeing advice ...
