    Afterwards we walked towards the 180 empty chairs, a touching memorial for those that died in the earthquake. A chair was picked for each person specifically to represent them.     ... we stayed in an old schoolhouse in the 'town' of Lauder. As the B&B owners put it, the population of Lauder is 14... today. With our seasoned-cyclist, accelerated pace, we beat the crowd and managed to have the entire schoolhouse and its outbuildings to ourselves for the night.
