68 Quintin Drive Te Anau, South Island, New Zealand, 9600, 64-3-249-7230

... to my blog as soon as it is updated! And then contrasting cinematic experiences - at the local cinema, a fabulous film of the Fiordland region - no commentary just spectacular photography and excellent soundtrack and then in my camper van a DVD of John Rambo, plot on a postage stamp, script on another but lots of shouting and gore - and it was still raining outside Invercargill and a hockey tournament next - yippee!!!!!! PS : no video clips this time they were taking way too long to upload
Te Anau, South Island, New Zealand spoonski... they fixed somehow (didn’t see their puncher repair kit but imagine it like one for a bike but bigger). All done and dusted and not a penny charged and off I headed into the blue yonder looking for the wilds of Fjordland.
The drive to Te Anau started along the shores of Lake Wakatipu with the Remarkables on one side looming. Just brilliant. Nice to drive in the sun again.
I arrived in Te Anau just before lunch. It’s a very small town/village ...
... where to eat and shop. We had booked to travel over the lake to the Glow Worm caves with Real Journeys, the trip takes about 2 1/2 hour and departed at 7:00pm. When we got there a team of divers were leaving the cave, Melody spoke with them and the said that the point of where the cruise into the cave ends is the start of a huge sub terrainal cave system that goes km's into the mountain range, this is also depicted in information at the waiting area. The trip into the cave ...
Te Anau, South Island, New Zealand iquaff... an even smaller emergency shelter, and so I stop there for a while. I take my boots off, fully expecting to see my feet frostbitten, blackened, and in need of amputation. They don't look as bad as I expected, but again, what do I know? They are a color of purple that I've never seen on my body before, and all I can do is curl up and use my own body heat to warm them. The words of the woman at the DOC office are ringing in my head, that this is where the greatest danger of exposure will be ...
Te Anau, South Island, New Zealand sirecho... This is like a fish tank in reverse - the humans are 10m below the surface in a glass-walled aquarium & the fish are on the outside, looking in. There are trays around the outside on which they have "planted" various corals. 30th March - Queenstown We retraced our steps to Queenstown, the activity centre of New Zealand. The town overlooks the beautifully blue Lake Wakatipu, shaped like the scar on Harry Potter's ...
Te Anau, New Zealand, New Zealand chris-barbara... there was a sign explaining that the toilet seat would be washed in secret before the next patron was ensconced. Automated flushing was initiated at step 2 of the 3 step hand cleansing exercise. Step 1 was to hold your hands under the soap dispensor as if accepting the body of Christ from a vicar. Step 2 was the ringing of the hands under the water. Cue flush. Step 3 was the karate chops in the warm air. Return to ...
manapouri, South Island, New Zealand yvetteandjack... 360 degree turns. The Shotover Jet, named after the Shotover river, was voted NZ's top attraction in 2006. In the afternoon we sailed on 'NZL 14' - NZ's entry in the America's Cup in 1992. A serious bit of racing kit and everything had been kept as per her racing days. The crew wanted to sail the boat as well as possible and we were encouraged to join in as much as we could. Winding the mainsail up was quite ...
Te Anau, South Island, New Zealand caledonians... a river on the doorstep and an affable owner who comes by every evening offering free freshbaked chocolate muffins. Although Greymouth is the West Coast's largest town, it's a pretty sleepy place - big excitement is the twice-daily mournful hooting as the Tranzalpine train arrives from Christchurch.A little way down the coast is Hokitika, although the journey is enlivened by two one-lane bridges (common even on south island main highways ...
Te Anau, South Island, New Zealand heleng2Over the next couple/ well 10 days I will be travelling to the deep south of the South Island of New Zealand. Today was the drive from Queenstown to Te Anau.
It probably would have been spectacular if the weather had been better. It was raining the whole bloody way!!! grr - not at all funny!
Due to the weather we didn't really do a whole lot here - except go to the post office and some other shops - we bought what looks to be a really ...
