The day started with a trip to the Butterhorn Bakery for the girls and I. Amazing breakfasts!!! Brian had to get "back to work" after two days off. The kids and I explored a few parks in town. We took a ride to Loveland Pass and ended up walking around the outlets before crashing. A great, restful ...

... the Great Plains here sit at around 6000ft. And this was once an ocean floor.

I make my way to the mountain via a twisty road that leads to the trail head. This is a popular place as there is nowhere to park. I look around and find nothing, so I end up following the mountain road I'm on up into the hills. I drive to a point where I need to turn around and find a car park for another trail. It was so wierd to start on level ground then hike up a couple hundred feet to come to a level praire at the top ...

I'm pretty sure this was where the idea that this resembled a "death march" popped into my head. This was reinforced a short time later when I saw a guy off on the side of the bike path leaning over his bike and let's just say he was regretting having eaten the Mexican food the ...

Mom & Joe had given us a hot air balloon ride as a gift for our engagement, and we were excited to see the mountains from a different vantage point. After several run ins and cancellations due to bad weather, we were starting to get worried that it might not happen and the 6/2 date was our last shot. We were in luck, as it was a go!

We left for Winter Park bright and early to be sure to make our 6AM flight time. Brendan's ...
