(Bratten) along the river. Clark and a party of 10 men and Sacagawea with her young son Pomp passed by here on July 17, 1806 except they were traveling on the other side of the river. They were still traveling by land in this
area but when they got to near where Billings MT is they built dugout canoes
and started their float trip on the Yellowstone River.

... I thought this would be a great opportunity to snap a few pictures (I like to photograph old structures). Little did I know we had stopped at the site of the Smith Mine Disaster; the worst mining disaster in the state of Wyoming. This abandoned village was left as a memorial to those who died in the disaster.

We continued on to Red Lodge which would serve as our entry point for the Beartooth Highway.

What to say about was beautiful leaving Yellowstone today. The drive took us up Mt. Washburn and up to about 10,000ft. This is fine for any vehicle but motorhomes...especially our Marybell this was a challenge. The park was beautiful and we hope to visit again soon to do some of the hikes we didn't get to do.

We decided to take the interstate down to Hardin Mt to visit the Little Big Horn Battlefield. The new friends from the last campgrounds met us here and we did a cookout and visited. We all decided a campfire would be great so Lee paid for a bundle of wood. The was a lady across the road from our site was by herself in a B class van camper. We spend today on the road driving through rain and some fog. Sometimes we get just sprinkles; other times we hit torrential downpour. We stop in Gillette, WY for gas and supplies and then head out into the rain. We reach Little Big Horn Battlefield in a downpour, but by the time we finish in the visitors center, the rain stops and the sun actually comes out.

We did not give ourselves enough time at Little Big Horn. We are amazed to ...
