We'll hit the road on ... July 12th!

... we are now four days away from hitting the road. Ending destination is Mount Rushmore, SD.

Yes, there is a little unrest inside of us. Will we really make it that far? Will we survive as a family? Flashbacks of comedy movies such as "RV" come to our minds in the wee hours of the night giving us chills.

We will keep you updated as we go or change our minds before leaving.

Home Today, Gone Tomorrow

After driving all morning we arrived back home this afternoon. Got to talk to the neighbors about the local happenings. The lawn is looking sad, overgrown and brown, I'm sure our local watchdog is not very happy with us. Oh well I clean up next week. For now I’ve got to finish up the work I brought home and we leave for Santa Barbara tomorrow for a couple of days.

Saga of the Visa, Part 2

... or whatever else one needs there. The room was full of Chinese old and young, Americans of all races and ages and Buddhist monk looking people. We took our number, A-198; there are numbers for visas, passports, and a couple other things but don't remember. We found seats and got comfy, as comfy as one can get on a metal seat anyway. We saw that they were only on the A-140's, a long way to go. By 1:15 they were only ...

Day 184 Barstow - Bakersfield - California

... shops and the Castle loaded with "essential Stuff" we moved out to find the old outlet shops. We found them a little set back and it revived the memories. So lunch first then hit the old outlets. How right this statement was, the outlets were old and over 50% were shut down and the ones that were left open did not take long to ascertain they had nothing to offer to the pile of goodies residing in the Castle ...

Death Valley

... At least anyone else in the canyon would get fair warning he was coming (he was not the world's quietest boy this afternoon). The canyon was well worth the stop. Most of the canyon walls were marble and there were other parts which were mosaics of various sized rocks and stones. Amazing stuff. And so close together. Some parts of the canyon were only about six feet across. It made for a really interesting hike. And it was the best time of year to do it ...

ROAD TRIP!!!

... came in 2nd overall...and thats not even the best part. it rained all day sunday for jump until Mens I started, then it cleared up and changed from a tail to a slight headwind. [sweet] But by the time the final seeds me and Kurtis Threlkeld got ready it was a raging headwind, at least 20-25 mph. a stiff headwind is what i prefer, but a wind this strong just screws with the skier to much and is dangerous. i didnt compensate enough on the 1st jump, got pulled ...

Home # 2 (in my life)

... her discount to me. Oh yeah! Picking up some new (much needed) thermals, and a windproof jacket that I've been looking for was quite productive. And of course, to finish the tour off, Venice. What is a trip to LA without Venice. Again being able to hang out with some folks that I really enjoy including Leanne and Phil. It was a good time and productive. Catching up with old friends is always good!

Route 66 through Bagdad and Siberia

... of the living quarters pulled around the USA. About the size of a bus we shared with 100 others in Asia, these RVs tow a SUV (sports utility vehicle) with bikes atop, all usually driven by an elderly couple. In Texas, a horse or two is usually squeezed in somewhere. Most of the old Route 66 has now been completely bypassed by Interstates, and in places the 1926 construction of Route 66 bypassed even older roads. In one lonely spot, the Jericho Gap, we stopped at an old ...
