    My long time friend, Dick Smith, asked me if I could go to Kansas City where he wanted to visit one of his classmates that is in poor health. It took me about 30 seconds to check my calendar and say yes.

    The proposed route was to go to Louisville Kentucky, Kansas City Mo., then return via Memphis and a tour of Graceland. Both of us are Elvis fans.

    Sa***************ed north to Virginia for a beautiful spring hike through James River Face Wilderness in Jefferson National Forest. We left Chapel Hill a little after 7 and headed north into Virginia.     ... aquarium. Nice little aquarium. While it’s hard to see many of the animals in small habitats, we have to remind ourselves that most aquariums are now rescue centers and that these animals cannot return to the wild.

    We were amazed to see a beautiful bald eagle that had been rescued. It greeted us as we visited the first exhibit. Magnificent. We’ll probably never be that close to another one.
