We have now left the magnificent scenery of the mountains, and are now driving across the prairie with not much to see. We are going to spend the night in Rawlins. It here we meet a few interesting characters and spend some time conversing with them. Lots of cute little cotton bunnies wandering around the camp ground. Looks like we have a nice night here in Rawlins, as it can be one very windy place.

... famous for them. However, today for 60 miles we had the most wonderful tailwind which at one point even pushed us up a hill without us pedaling! The flip side to this was that when we turned south-west onto Crooks Gap Road, we climbed for 6.2 miles into a wall of wind. Well, we've made it to Rawlins, WY. Spent last night in North Platte, Nebraska. Haven't focused on doing too much these past two days other than just covering distance and staying in the air conditioned car since its been in the mid-90's both days. We did manage to stop at a couple of antique stores.

We stayed over in North Platte specifically so I could visit ...

... face with a big mule deer. We stood and glared at each other and by the time I got my camera out, he had run off. My goal was to investigate the Carbon County Museum a few blocks down. It contained many wonderful artifacts and treasures of the late 1800's. I'm certainly getting my history lessons. After I wandered around the small town, checking out the few stores, I stopped at the post office before heading ...

... I even spotted a lone white bellied buck grazing just off the highway. Rawlins is fairly uninspiring and appears to be a mining centre. We checked in at the Holiday Inn and have a nice suite including two TVs . Dinner was at Cactus Jack's. I had a 16oz T- bone with hickory pit beans! I love to live dangerously! Now I'm reclining on bed sipping my hot air balloon champagne in a plastic cup and thoroughly enjoying ...
