Got to our hotel yesterday afternoon for a 24hr stop over in LA. Threw our suitcases into our hotel room, took the shuttle back to the airport and the LAX flyer into downtown LA. Dropped off at the 'Union Railway Station' very iconic postcard shot. Inside was right out of the 50's .. with everything beautifully restored, included leather armchairs in the waiting room. ... a side street for lunch. Lunch at Riccio's was a delicious Italian meal with a great chocolate mousse cake for dessert.

After lunch we went for a stroll down the main shopping street of Palm Springs to look at a whole lot of things we neither wanted nor could afford. In one shop they were having a psychic open day where you could meet and chat with the psychics for no charge, just a bit of loving!

... gravesites pictured going up the mountain. It ended with Ronald Reagan, which I thought was a bit odd, but thinking, maybe that's was there intent...more on that later. A good sign, there were cars in the parking lot and people milling around.

I got out and saw some beautiful views of the valley below...I know why Reagan liked it here. I walked on a sidewalk toward the cliffs and saw what I thought was a fitting monument ...

... has been an exceptionally wet summer in Florida, and being totally flat (it seems all hills, mounds really, are manmade) the rainfall has resulted in many suburban and rural roadside berms being constantly underwater, and even roads often shallow lakes particularly at intersections. One drives off the seal edge at ones peril usually, a towtruck being needed to get out of the muddy ruts if one does.
All this water lying around ...
