As we lay down in the tent, I feel pregnant because my belly is so bloated. I had obviously had a reaction to the cookies we had bought and didn’t even think that they would have dairy in them. We are seriously bad at avoiding dairy sometimes. ... legal or other factors. After walking the streets of Bangkok alone at midnight, some pretty bad areas of Lima, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taipei, not to mention Saigon and Can Tho in wartime, I think I will have my antennae properly attuned to trouble in New York in the daytime.

I never once sensed any danger. People I encountered were extremely open and friendly. Moreso than even I had imagined. I stopped and bought a postcard for a special friend, but ...
