... break down that i was keen on. Good to have it written down. I reckon we keep this one as the overall mission as you put it, and just add stuff to the entries for each individual country. Just as you seem to have done. I will start looking at places more specifically now that we have an overall plan. Id also be pretty keen to hit up Vang Vieng again if we gt time/ still have enough money and stamina left.

I got the intercity bus, the stupid 'naked bus' (the easyjet of the bus world) let me book and PAY for me and my bike and then when I turned up at 7.05AM the driver said they never take over sized item on this route!
Thankfully I only had to wait an hour for the intercity and they took me and my bike. The driver was a bit weird, he stalked up and down the coach at one point (the bus was stopped ...
Zion gardens were amazing and the White Lions and Tigers just magnificent. The keepers were in with lots of them interacting and and feeding them. Next time maybe we will have a encounter with them where you go into the cages with them and stroke them and have photos!!!! Had a night in Waipo Cove and had brekkie there then set off to Mangawhai and a fantastic walk ...
Whangarei, North Island, New Zealand kazzerbyHeading back south I pulled in to Whangarei for the night. It was lucky I did in the end as after I had found the campsite I went out in the van to go and book a trip down some caves. As I started the van the fan belt was making a bit of a squeak by the time I got out onto the road it was positively howling and the battery light was just glimmering on... Ah nuts! As it ...

The tasks have been varied, herding sheep, whacking thistles, carpentry, landscaping the garden, housework and of course cooking some meals too. All tasks have been really enjoyable, I know what you're all thinking, it's about time those two did a bit of work!! There are some great surfing beaches in the area. The water at Ocean Beach looks ...
Whangarei, North Island, New Zealand andyfreshwater... make it back to Auckland. Kate also gave me some home backed Anzac Biscuits to fuel me on my way, and speed me on my way they did, I completed my biggest climb yet through the waipoura forest 400m up over 7km along past lush native forest. Inf act it was so good that I cycled straight past my planned stop in 'I want a pony' and after giving them a call and to booking a ...

Whangarei, North Island, New Zealand helium803... meal was delicious and shows yet another similarity with Scotland - namely the happy conviction that anything can be deep-fried and taste better. Following Rex's advice, we then drove up to a kauri forest and stayed in a DoC campsite. DoC campsites are sometimes basic (a field), sometimes standard (a field with a tap) and sometimes, rarely, serviced (a field with a tap, fully operational kitchen with fridge and a toilet block with hot showers. The cheapest of ...

We were able to swim up into the air pocked which looks like underwater mercury and breathe air without our reg's at 8m below, a very weird sensation. Two dives are not nearly enough at the Poor Knights Islands which have more than 30 recognised dive sites, so we will most certainly add this to our list of future dive destinations. Must still see the seals, dolphins, sunfish and manta which are often seen.
Poor Knights Islands, New Zealand vine_hooligans... do on Waitangi Day (an official Bank Holiday on the 6th Feb). We paid a return visit to Brian, Debi & Co. back at Baylys Beach where Brian showed us around his incredible kumara (sweet potato) farm and having annoyed them for a few days more, we finally headed down through the middle and in the direction of the eggy centre of the North Island, realising that we had fallen in love with the Northland and the amazing people we had met along the way...
