... our trip down the coast passing Moss Beach, a popular surfing spot. We travelled past strawberry fields which stretched as far as the eye could see for many kilometers. This is a huge Californian agricultural area. We passed Castroville, the "artichoke capital of the world" before arriving in Monterey where we had a 2 hour stop to explore and have lunch. Before letting us off the bus Larry produced a copy of John Steinbeck's "Cannery Row" and read to us. Wow, what an introduction ...
