literally translated to English and this results in some hilarious
signs. I'll try to enclose
some examples. The gift shop was called the Commodity Department. The
urinal signed stated “ a step up closer helps keep it cleaner”. The swimming pool stated " no hubbub" . The

Tues/Weds, September 16/17

It's weird that this morning was the 16th, but tonight it's the 17th. This morning I woke up at 4:45 am pacific time, so I was the only one awake for a few hours. I read and went downstairs until my roommate woke up. At 9:45 am, we walked to Denny's. Sophia and Scott met up with us. It was really great to talk to them because they got us pumped for the trip.

Anthony showed me where the hot water machine was on the floor, It was in the kitchen and the machine was huge. One woman in the room told us to only use it when the light was green because that meant that the water was completely boiled.

For the rest of the night, I started packing for the Silk Road trip. Then I fell asleep.

I left the hostel in Singapore bright and early, and made my way to Singapore's International Airport. This place is huge... equipt with a hotel, swimming pool, clinic, yoga and meditation, countless shops and restaurants, and a number of other things! If it hadn't been so early and me so tired, I likely would have endulged in some of these luxurious emenities.... but instead, I grabbed a Starbucks and waited for my flight to Beijing.
