China Day 3

A travel blog entry by laurenann31 on Jul 15, 2014

... ll need to watch myself here or I'm gonna gain a good 10 lbs! Our day ended at about 7:30, but you would have though it was midnight by the sounds of our whining. We were all exhausted demonstrated by the comment made by Diane, "Maya is 85% Chinese and 15% misery." We were dying of laughter. We went back to our room, got ready for bed, and it think I was the first one out since I don't even remember telling anyone goodnight! We had such an exciting day and can't wait for our next ...

I went shopping, wanting simple things in life, black shoes & black trousers, no - not that easy..... nowhere had what I wanted in my size, and no normal trousers to be found. I did however find a lovely winter coat. The majority of coats in ...

... of the wall. I'm so glad I made the effort as its possible to see what a great job they have done of sympathetically (for China) restoring the wall, allowing safe access and still managed to retain much of the feeling of the unrestored section. Also the unrestored section give you a real feeling that this is an ancient monument and an amazing feat of engineering for its time or even in modern times. I'm also glad I got to see the 2000 year old early mud wall version that ...
