... the next morning.
After breakfast and the quickest shower B has ever had in her life (the showers are coin operated, 20c for 1 minute - so 60c doesn't buy a lot of hot water!) we set off for our bush walk.
There are 3 main bush walking tracks in the Mt Barney National Park, the shortest (but by no means the easiest!) is the Lower Portals. We drove to the carpark which was about ten minutes from our camp ...
... young children. Sadly, where exactly the family isn't sure). Normanby Wines is the main drawcard to Harrisville for tourists, though it's historic buildings and fascinating history (dotted, I say with pride, Nutley history...) are a lesser-known pleasure. The early 20th century Australian film director Charles Chauvel grew up on the property Summerlands, just outside of Harrisville and filmed various scenes from his movie The Moth of Moonbi in Harrisville itself. While ...
Boonah, Queensland, Australia krissy_ann... blocked. We congratulate them for their courrage and hope they will be successfull with that strike. We get lucky and Quantas shifts the flight to Singapore. And we can go directly to Brisbane from there and safe 3 hours travel time. The flights all go smoothly and in Brisbane at 7 am the sun and 25°C welcome us! More fotos here Diana's friend Buggsy offered us to stay at his home until ...
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia crazyswiss... enjoyed being with good friends over Christmas and New Year. Now our thoughts are turning to packing for the trip, organising, cleaning and packing up the caravan and generally preparing to be away from our 'home' for 6 months. If you have any problems with accessing our blog or any comments please email us. We would love to hear from you anyway. Next time one of us updates this blog we will be on our way.
Gold Coast, Australia lizdavid... s choir in Ipswitch was to sing at the Lord Mayor's Carols, and so we went to see him sing. I expected a smallish affair with a lot of Christmas carol singing, maybe lasting an hour or two. Wow, was I wrong. It was a huge spectacular community event. It reminded me of a cross between the 4th of July, the county fair, a formal concert, and Christmas. It was at a racetrack in Ipswitch where a stage was set up and at the end of the grounds a small ...
Ipswich, Australia jaybrotz... Lone Pine in Fig Tree Pocket today, pretty much because I wanted to cuddle a Koala before I left Australia and this was the best place to go to do it. Vi was very happy when we arrived as her pensioner's card, which she has only just got, entitled her to more dicount than my backpacker card. I think everyone got a good laugh at that. It turns out that Koalas are actually in quite serious trouble in Australia, their numbers ...

Brisbane, Australia grahambrewer... a lookout over Mt Alexandrer that was really pretty 3. and we went on a Crocodile cruise down the Daintree river it took 90 minutes on the way up the river we didn't see any crocodiles but with about 10 minutes to go a lady on the boat spotted one hiding in the grass it camoflaged so well we only saw its tail our guide said it was most likely a 5 metre croc cause the tail was so long. we had a great time and I'll write soon. by grace
Daintree/Cape Tribulation, Australia jalateras... formed, due to erosion, into round ovals, balancing precariously at their base. We continued on the rocky pathway and came across a steep incline. The sign at the beginning of the trek mentioned something about needing to be in good physical condition to climb the rest of the way. They weren't lying. There were times when we had to use our hands as well as our legs and crawl up the granite face. Many times we stopped to check out the view ...
Beaudesert, Australia mr-mrs_pickles... s Paradise, but rather had to stay in Southport - a 5km jaunt up the highway. Surfer's Paradise itself is a holiday destination - big, expensive and flashy. If you have the means, Surfer's Paradise has the ways to take it away from you. It is a mass of high rise apartments, chic restaurants and overpriced boutiques. The nightlife is pretty amazing and many people travel from all over Australia for it. No less ...
