      Up by 6am - and this was supposed to be a holiday! To Amtrak by 8am ready to board by 9.35. We nearly missed the train due to being given incorrect information when we checked in and my (Anne) absent mindedness. Proof of ticket purchase in hand, I proceded to get the paper tickets to be told they couldn't be printed off for some reason but my paperwork had a barcode and would be scanned by the conductor.       ... be so close to shore. Great to witness these amazing animals. Also saw seals and otters. Great apart from stench! Back on shore we went to amazing sweet shop where girls bought taffee and then took trolley bus to cannery row to visit aquarium.       ... we were a par 5 away from the end of the runway of Monterey airport !!!! Oh joy !! Luckily it was a small and not very busy airport. Climbing the steep, steep hill from Sausilito was more than mitigated by travelling triumphantly into the city via the Golden Gate bridge.
