We also saw the USS Drum SS 228 submarine today. It is on the same site as the USS Alabama and it is cool to get on a sub. The USS Drum SS 228 sank 15 Japanese ships during it's service. The sub is 311 ft long, 27 feet wide and could stay submerged for 24 hours at 2 knots. It had a crew of 72 men and carried 94,400 gallons of diesel. Boy, I could use some of that fuel on this ...

... 42,500 tons. Suzanne and I were very surprised that we could see so much of the ship and you take a self tour so you go at your own pace. We got our exercise in today as you go up and down a lot of stairs.

If you are ever in the Mobile area make sure you stop and see the USS Alabama. It was a great day!
