Traveling from San Diego to the south rim of the Grand Canyon was easy - Pat drove. It was a toasty 3 degrees as we started the 10 mile trek down the Bright Angel trail to the Phantom Ranch. Only after a nearly disastrous slip and fall on an icy trail, did I learn to pay closer attention to where I was stepping. It's hard to study the ground in front of you when you're sucked into the paint-palette ...

We enjoyed our overnight stay in Tucson, great company and the most amazing suite. After we received our morning beverage delivery, we packed up and and loaded the car for the home stretch. Home was so close yet so far away.

I think that we limited our stops on this leg of the trip. Stopped for a gas and breakfast in Eloy AZ and then for gas and lunch in Yuma. We did stop one last time for Bob's Killer Brownies in Pine Valley CA ...

We started the day early, about 9:00 not knowing that the activities didn't start until noon. We stopped and wandered through the courthouse and jail. Interesting history. Had some coffee. Walked around into the Fiesta del Reyes courtyard and then had lunch at Bara Bara. Next was to go over to the demonstration area: period gambling, tortilla makers, vegetables from the period gardens, ...

Another early start to the day was difficult with us all being so exhausted from the previous few days of activities, we dragged the girls out of bed and promised them a fun day which helped motivate them to move a little bit quicker!

With San Diego entered into the GPS off we set down the freeways, through toll gates and finally arriving after a two hour drive south and close to the Mexican border, we arrived at Sea World.

Although a Saturday, the number of people was ...

We woke up in the morning and decided to go for a jog by the ocean. We had biked approximately 1500 miles so a little jog shouldn't be anything, right? Wrong. Three miles caused a massive amount of soreness the next day. Apparently, jogging requires completely different muscles than biking. Funny thing, our plan was to jog, jump in the ocean, and then go get coffee at a nearby coffee shop. We jogged, jumped in the water, and began walking towards the coffee shop ...
