... enough to sunbake. Pete was delighted to find wifi and follows the croquet final. Erian is 2 games up, but El Mahdi takes the next 2. It is 5-1 to Erian in the 5th....but El Mahdi takes the match! I did expect El Mahdi to win; he is the older more senior player... But it may just be the way it worked out! And Egypt is the winner of course! Dinner at Masters of India restaurant in town turns out to be a lovely meal, fortifying us for the road trip to Wellington ...

We are still putting our car wipers on instead of indicators. We have the cleanest windscreen and the worst indicator record in North Island. Although we have been here before, can't fail to be impressed with the size of this lake. It is 40 kilometres long and 30 kilometres wide with its deepest point some 186 metres. Journey To Mount Doom

... mountains, and past mount doom. It was a perfect warm and clear day and we had a perfect trek with stunning views including the infamous crater lakes.
It was a good decision to park the car at the end as most people had to wait for a bus. Once we had finished we were able to leave straight away.
It's an amazing day walk and highly recommended.
Taupo is a great place to visit and one of my favourites in the North Island.
