Pahia, New Zealand bindannmalweg... They had pictures of me and my sister Jamie from when we were 2 and 4 yrs old so it was neat to look at. We both wished we could have had a longer time to visit, but Will and I had to move on... only one more week in NZ!

Yesterday we arrived to the Bay of Islands, Paihia. Great little town on the beach. The whole Bay of Island area was one of the first parts of NZ to be discovered by Captain Cook in the late 1700's. There is a lot of ...
Paihia, New Zealand sarahandwill... After we lost the dolphins we heading to Omata Vineyard where the vines meet the sea and then stopped for a short walk to the top of an island where we enjoyed the view, participated in a traditional Maori welcome and were invited into the Maori family. We made a final stop at Motu Marie, a beautiful untouched island where we relaxed in the sun and ate a fish which Zoe caught. Zoe was really proud of her fish as it was a struggle to get the fish on board the ...
Paihia, North Island, New Zealand dlz... the company that organizes the more local parts of the tour are not giving us the value for money that the UK booked bit has. Anyway, we're here, with a beautiful view and some luxury! To top that the sun has shone and we've had another great meal - how lucky we are. DAY 29 Thursday. I've had to start putting the days on the blog so we know what day it is! We've been traveling for so long now and as long as you turn up ...
Paihia, North Island, New Zealand maxnstan... areas of the treaty grounds, taking pictures and reading the signboards along the way. The Maori meeting house was the most interesting. It was similar to the meeting house in Rotorua on the outside. We were also able to go inside, where it was even more impressive, with colorful woven "wallpaper" and massive carved wall panels covering every inch of it. We left feeling like we had seen and learned enough about Maori culture! After a brief ...
Paihia, North Island, New Zealand rgreenwell630... the capital! It is actually really hard to get campsited near the cities and we ended upstaying in a place where the campsite was actually just a car park and was a bit annoying as they charged a fortune but it was near the centre. Wellington was not one of our favourate places, although its harbour was nice but it didn't have much atmosphere to it. Therefore we only stayed 2 nights and took the ferry across to Picton, the South Island.
Bay of islands, North Island, New Zealand marknmhairi... bathroom. umm, no. I usually get up before everyone else so hopefully it won't be an issue. other than that it seems like a very pleasant hostel... very clean, which is always a plus when you're talking hostels. the day had turned out to be OUTSTANDING. "a ten" is what my mother would have called it. since I had the afternoon free I had already made up my mind to take a passenger ferry across the bay to the sleepy town of Russell and wander ...
Paihia, North Island, New Zealand katelin... wasn't a total loss in respects to sight seeing because we took a fairy to Rusell. Blyme it was windy, so windy half the shops were closed, not that there were that many shops to begin with. Most of the shops we went into were art galery/shops ^^ They have lots of neet art that they wouldn't let me photograph, understandably, so I have nothing to show to you guys. I enjoyed the stay emencely if it had not been for the wind it would have been glorius. At one of the little ...
Paihia, North Island, New Zealand minijexter... Kerikeri we explore the local attractions, the Stone Store and the Kemp House, the two oldest European constructed buildings in NZ. It is a beautiful setting with lovely gardens overlooking a small waterfall. Just up the hill from the Stone Store is a very old Church so we hike up the hill and are rewarded with lovely views. Kerikeri is an artisan community with lots of art galleries, small boutiques, woodcarving shops and a ...
Kerikeri, New Zealand indianajill... Hitchers, a Canadian couple who stank to high heaven of b.o and garlic. They were eating raw cloves of garlic and in return for the lift they offered me some along with some dried Apricots! Cheers, but petrol money would have helped more! Im never picking up hitch hikers again. I couldnt get rid of them! I had to check in to a campsite just to get them out of my van and get away from the smell!! So Wednesday was a land mark day, day 14 on the ...
