    ... the carved bird exhibits, we talked to a bird carver who was demonstrating the stages of carving birds. It wasn’t until we spoke to the museum greeter upon leaving that we realized he was Steve Valleau who had carved some of the most detailed, impressive birds in the exhibit (see the pictures).

    We ate lunch at Thurstons. Later we found out that these Thurstons are distant cousins of a lady in our caravan. The restaurant and inlet view was charming. ...

The Woodland Park Cottages location is very near the entrance to Acadia National Park and downtown Bar Harbor is just slightly further away.     Reluctantly, we left St. Andrews By-The-Sea and drove back to Bangor and the Pumpkin Patch RV Resort. We could have stayed there several more days and just chilled out. Instead, we would do that at the Pumpkin Patch (an equally nice place to stay, but without the water).

    Over the bridge from Wiscasset is Damariscotta, the scene of a very interesting boat race each year. Everyone in the race must build their own boat of whatever they choose for materials and I have seen everything but a commode used to float people down the river, I kid you not. Some make it to the end of the course and many fall apart along the way. But everyone has a grand time. ...
