    ... edge of the road. Great sweeping corners and 10-15mph switchbacks (hairpins). This is the heart of hillbilly country and they have a fiddle & ukulele festival annually.

    ... any more certainly in the areas we are visiting and it has taken a while to work out why.

    We are crossing vast areas which would have been cowboy trails and transport routes across states. They would have needed to stop and refuel the people and horses at regular intervals.
