    ... lots of potatoes in Idaho, if you didn’t know that already! We passed miles of potato fields, alternating occasionally with fields of hay. Sometimes a farm had an old potato shed – a long building with sod built up around the walls and over the roof so it looked like an odd-shaped hill with a door in the end.     ... for this cross country trip. At first, we planned not to come into Idaho at all because of the fires, but then realized that Sun Valley is on the other side of the state, so traveling in Eastern Idaho would be OK.

    We have been staying in touch with brother Tom and nephew Bill every day and it appears as though the brain surgery was a success. Tom is doing well. We keep assuring him that we are on our way.

Idaho.....went a few exits down and then noticed my gas was well below the empty mark......16 miles til next gas....we made it to a place called "66", neat little area and after I filled up, I bought a bottle of Huckleberry soda.....good stuff, kinda a knock off of the Jones brand of soda.
