          ... insignificance by the scale. For a while my breath and strength allowed me to take a hammer and just start smacking a hole down, down, down until I came nearly waist deep; Kendall kept up top and found a nice smaller sized opal. I found a solid one around the size of a shooting marble, which was rough-hewn but uninterrupted by assorted rocks clinging to it like barnacles.           ... lots of potatoes in Idaho, if you didn’t know that already! We passed miles of potato fields, alternating occasionally with fields of hay. Sometimes a farm had an old potato shed – a long building with sod built up around the walls and over the roof so it looked like an odd-shaped hill with a door in the end.           We finally connected with Meg Lowell Sommers by phone, of course it was all about the limited cell service and Meg working the park when it opened. We caught up and I promised to give her more warning next time.

          ... the roads deserted, only seeing about 10 cars, the rest were trucks. We stopped a few times to stretch our legs and arrived safety at our hotel in Idaho Falls. We checked in at the Candlewood suites which we have stayed at before because it is really nice. An early night again tonight then about a 9 hour drive again stop ...

          ... of the site was buried. Happy days!

          We did however have dinner in was apparently THE best restuarnt in Idaho Falls. It was an awful Chinese one, where all the food was brown. Afterwards we went for drinks at a local bar and actually got quite hammered and got talking to a local guy. Im not sure, but at the end of the night I think we were supposed to drive and pick up this guy in the morning and he was going to be our guide...I think....
