    Vanmorgen trokken we weer verder naar de volgende stopplaats. We overnachten vandaag in Bishop omdat de route tot Yosemite in 1 keer te lang zou zijn. Om de volledige afstand toch op een leuke manier te overbruggen reden we dwars door Death Valley.     ... in winter. On route we passed through a quaint 'cowboy' town at the foot of the tallest mountain in the USA, Mt. Whitney. I was surprised by joy today. Joy which I found in a place of wonder and endless stories, and on the back of a large Vegas experience ushered in by a trail through the Grand Canyon....I feel like a storm tore through the desert with me in it.     ... We continued to plod long the 120 and the landscape got rocky - we had a treat at one vantage point where we could look back to Half Dome in the distance. In the back of mind was "this is really high - it must be a very long gentle descent".

    Well hardy har har - just when we thought all the scary roads were done we hit Tioga Pass (closed winters) - oh bugger. While it was only two bends they both might well have been on top of Mount flipping Doom! ...

    ... your own trays, the food was delicious (I had a pulled pork sandwich and Trev had tri-tips, and then we ordered more tri-tips with corn bread to share!). It was brilliant to try an authentic non chain restaurant, I definitely want to try more (though I'm not sure I'm gonna fit into my clothes soon!!!).     ... Glimmer, Piper and her compadre who's name escapes me. Luna, Schmitty, and Wild came by as well as Paka Bear, but they all headed on another two miles or so to better position themselves for tomorrows pass.
