Wes's Wagga Wagga Walkabout...Jo came to

26th November – 1st December

Distance Travelled: 1602km

< br>
Wagga Wagga was the longest stay yet, and yet the one where we spent the least time at the tent. We spent most evenings at Lauren and Nic's catching up with the family, and meeting our gorgeous new niece, London. We also got some time for TV – we have ...

Cheap wine and a three legged goat

... 8211; nice non-effort. Speaking of the Aussies, best costumes have to go to Smithy & Rauey, not because of their true blue Aussie kit (akubras, blue singlets and boardies) but the ute with kiddie pool was freakin’ awesome! I only found out this morning from Mick that even Chico the dog went for a swim. The punishment for those who didn’t turn up in costume was to drink a beer that had been sitting in the sun for at least ...

Family fun!

... to do much besides just enjoy each other's company. They have taken us to a few places such as the university where Peter used to lecture, and a nearbye chocolate and liquorice factory (Nina will know how much I would enjoy that, particularly all the free samples.) We have been out for meals once or twice and had a lovely BBQ the evening before Peter's 70th with Claire's family. On the big day just the four of us ate out ...

Only a short first day

Wagga Wagga After delaying our departure 1 day we spent the first night away at the Rossiter family guest house and spend a great quick night over a couple of beers and a home made Rossiter Pizza. Great to catch up with friends and this will be one thing both Rebecca, myself and the kids will find the hardest over the next 10 months To all the people we missed on the way north we will catch up with on the way south next year

Wagga Wagga?

... nor drinking. The good news is that it is much warmer in the north, so the weather was beautiful, and the people we ran into were very nice. I have noticed in my travels that people in smaller towns tend to be a lot friendlier than those in larger towns, but I suppose that is true in the US as well. After arriving in Wagga Wagga, we wandered around town for a bit and checked out the botanical gardens and the ...

The Top of Australia

... a two hour ride through the bush on 'brumbies' (ex-wild horses) and we got in a few good canters, ducking to avoid the swishing branches and hoping our steeds didn't slip into the huge wombat holes. After such a strenuous morning, the most sensible option for the afternoon was obviously a beer-crisps-chocolate picnic and snooze in the sun on a rug by the lake in Jindabyne... So... day three: we parked at Charlotte's Pass, rock ...

Canberra - the nation's capital

After leaving Ulludulla after a very windy night I headed off towards Batemans Bay for a coffee and a look around the town. You can find some great bakeries around Australia and this was no exception. After a brief visit I headed inland for the second ...
