Had a perfect travel day yesterday. Actually got away early, 8:45, and had beautiful cold clear weather all day. It was only once we got close to Portland that we saw any snow at all and there it was only deep in the bush. But shortly after we stopped for the night the snow started. It looks like we got about 3" overnight. Luckily we're heading south! Had great Chinese food last night. Who knew we'd find it in Maine! Here's what morning looked like - winter ...
... there would be more than 5 watching the midnight ones.... !
We made friends with another couple who were locals and they were sure we were in the right place too. So, midnight struck.... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Silence. oh hang on, whats that.... far in the distance, behind all the buildings? That'd be the fireworks I am guessing.....!!!! Not quite the midnight we expected, but that's ok..... we were together in Boston and and that's all that is important ...

We got talking to the lady about how we'd been hoping to see snow . She suggested if we drive inland about ...

The one interesting museum was closed, so we headed up the coast. Exploring up the coast we drove through some very cute little towns with the gorgeous wooden houses, but didn't feel the need to ...
Year 2, Days 7/1-7/10/14 - Today we drove to Wells ME for 10 days. We got in touch with old friends who now live in York, ME, Bob and Carolyn Morahan, and Andrea and the kids joined us for 4 days. I was surprised that the area was not that crowded, but then I was told that the 3rd week of July through August is their busy time. So, good for us. You've heard "if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes" - well - seems to be true. We had ...
