    ... all sweet and serene in the movies but when you are one of the standing passengers on the outside, hanging on to a slippery pole with one hand as your trying to fish 14 dollars to give to a demanding ticket conductor for the privilege of this near death experience's anything but!     ... after a 50 min wait we managed to board the next one. From the ferry we were treated to lovely views of the bridge, Alcatraz and the city skyline making the ferry ride a tourist attraction in itself. Docking at Pier 41 we disembarked with our bikes and cycled along the boulevard past the gaudy Fishermans Wharf, a total tourist trap where we'd no doubt end up at a later date, and on to Ghirardelli Square.     ... saw the administration offices and various other rooms for running the prison including the dining area and kitchen. And the recreation area with tiered seating. It was quite windy and a bit chilly out there though. Sakura was excellent all day, and walked most of the time, but Chris did carry her on his shoulders sometimes too.
