... we were walking thru Quincy Market. We blew away 90 minutes or so walking around and having a Starbucks then, jumped the T and returned to the airport. Fortunately they began check-in at 5pm and we are now in the active part of Terminal E with thousands of other folks heading to Europe on late flights. Life is good. Today was a good adventure. ... Memorial. For some reason I thought Doctor Seuss was from California, but for some reason his memorial is here in Springfield. The museums cover world art, the fine arts, Springfield history, science, and a Connecticut valley historical museum, well worth a stop. I then headed north to Amherst and Amherst College and Mead Art Museum, one of best small college art museums in New England, and one of rather few neither closed over summer nor closed for ...

... museum was under renovation during the time of my visit with part of collection on view and the rest temporarily in storage or on loan to other museums. There was still plenty of good stuff on display, though.

A few miles west of central Hartford is another focus of touristic interest, the next door homes of Mark Twain and Harriet Beecher Stowe, author of Uncle Tom’s Cabin. In the era before and ...
