After finishing our first grocery shop for the van we headed to wawona campground in the Yosemite National Park. We reached our destination (or so we thought) at a perfect time before the sunset. But soon we realized That google maps had taken us to a town two hours from our actual destination. After redirecting our travels back to our destination, we began our drive to ...

Well we were lucky today, the weather held out for us for our flight to the Grand Canyon. We were transferred from our hotel to an airport just north of Las Vegas. The flight, on a Dornier 228 which takes about 18 passengers, took off at about 9.00 am. ... ghost town. It was a shanty town! with only one place open for any food or drink. So we grabbed a bag of beef jerky and some water and left.

Barstow looked like a bigish place on the map so we headed there hoping to find somewhere to sleep for the night. There were plenty of motels but as Darren put it - will we be murdered in our beds here??? We just had a very uneasy feeling about the place...sorry Barstow it looked like a s**t hole!

    Mojave National Preserve

With a day to kill before we go to Las Vegas, we decided to explore Mojave National Preserve in California. The scenery is made up of lava beds, mountains and Joshua Tree covered desert.

We drove around the park on some particularly dodgy unmade roads (sorry Fortescue!) and visited the ...
