Leaving the Hoover Dam behind we headed east, skirted Las Vegas ( I wasn't feeling brave enough to face it again just yet) and then turned south west on I15. Having gained an extra hour to the day we wanted to make some more miles. Even though it didn't stop it going dark just as soon !

Well we were lucky today, the weather held out for us for our flight to the Grand Canyon. We were transferred from our hotel to an airport just north of Las Vegas. The flight, on a Dornier 228 which takes about 18 passengers, took off at about 9.00 am. Set off this morning quite early from Three Rivers which is the other side of Sequoia National Park after staying in the cosy Comfort Inn heading towards Death Valley

We decided to visit the Red Rock Canyon on the way. It was interesting but not that red to be honest. Apparently it gets redder as the sun goes down but we didn't have time to hang around until then.
