      We left our place in Auckland this a.m. in a light drizzle as we boarded the LINK bus to where we caught the Airexpress bus to the airport. First time for us taking a domestic flight in another country (outside the US). Almost everything was self-check. You print your own boarding pass and luggage tags and put them on the belt yourself. security …

      We had purchased tickets to the A&P show, which is like stock show meets state fair and planned to go with the Strange's on the Friday holiday. We met up around 11 and wandered through all of the stock show areas to watch a sheep shearing competition (see video) and see the various sheep, cattle, goats, pigs and roosters who had been entered into competitions. Along the way we also got to hold newborn chicks and goats as well as pet rabbits, sheep, cattle and Kune Kune pigs. ...

      Roundabouts: way more efficient than stop signs! ... and way more fun, too!

      Driving on the other side of the road is an adjustment, but I imagine that's because I have spent 8 years driving on the right side. Other than that, this is an American-speaking country that really admires America, so we really haven't had too much difficulty settling in.       ... frozen as the water was so cold. The had a hot shower and hot chocolate when they came back on board to warm them up. We were asking them how long they worked on the ship and one girl said she'd been onboard for 6 months and was going home to England for 2 months and then she'd work another 6 months. She said she took a big pay cut to do this but she got to see so many places and do so many things that she wouldn't be able to afford to do otherwise.
