Landed in Hong Kong at 12pm! Busy busy busy. Lovely scenic views travelling the train from the airport to the central, bizarre going over water on a train and so many constructions in the sea. Managed to find our way along the MTR to the stop nearest our hotel. Still pondering on the fact 'why did we think 'backpacking' was such a a good idea?!' It …

we set off early again and took the Star Ferry over to Hong Kong Island and joined the Hop On Bus and travelled to Aberdeen Harbour. This is where the fishermen still live on Houseboats and there are many if them as they refuse to live on the land.
We had a free trip on a Sampang which are shrimp fishing boats but thankfully this one is only for tourists. We saw many of them coming in and unloading their catch so there is still money ...

... most with a long line of people waiting patiently to get in. We found one with a smaller queue and had only a short wait before being shown in to a table for a lovely meal.

Leaving the shopping centre we went around the corner to the Chi Lin Nunnery. The nunnery was built in 1934 and includes four large wooden pavilions with statues of Buddha and other religious figures, surrounded by gardens with lily ponds. It was a lovely peaceful ...

... beach was lovely and the sun boiling so we tried to go for a swim. The line of scum and rubbish was enough to keep me out , let alone the sign which said, ' do not swim due to red tides,' which are blooms or red algae toxic to fish. We moved on to a beach closer to the hostel, Repulse bay, which did not live up to its name as it was actually very nice. The sun went down and the temperature cooled allowing me to have a nap as the others swam out to various pontoons in the sea. We had ...
