Gas across the Southern states is averaging $3.00 and I continue to average 8.5 MPG. Crossed numerous large rivers along the way today and through Talledega National Forest. Camped in Heflin, AL (halfway between Birmingham and Atlanta) for 2 nights.

We were headed up to northern Alabama to see some cool falls, camp and head to the space and rocket center. It was cool with us so we made our somewhat surprise adventure. Alabama, it turns out, is really pretty. We arrived at our site and took a nice long 3-4 mile hunk to find ...

About dinner, if you ever find yourself here in Oxford we have a restaurant for you, Garfrerick's Cafe.
