... The second largest species of whale! I also finally saw a sea otter in the bay! Did I mention that boat tour comes with cinnamon rolls for breakfast?!?! Yay! We also saw some dolphins on our way to the island. Once there, we got off the island, met our guide, and suited up. It was a pretty hot outfit, haha. Pics below. ... amp; colder as we approached the glacier & there were lots of ice pieces floating past the boat, some with gulls perched on. Even though we were about 300 yards away, the immensity of the towering ice was obvious – it was a truly marvellous spectacle, almost glowing due to the cloudy/wet conditions in a way that the Mendenhall Glacier didn't. This was amazing, so far as I was concerned. I did not expect to see Sea Otters at all, since I did not associate them with cold water. Paradigm shift. (Their fur does consist of roughly 1 million hairs per square inch, so who better prepared for icy waters?) Hello Folks,
We arrived safely across the Gulf of Alaska into the port of Seward. We met up with our friends Jason & Denise and hit the road running! The thing about Alaska is it doesnt start getting dark until midnight. We fished daily and played until 10pm and had dinner at midnight every night!
I had no idea what we were in for...waders, fishing rods, nets, knifes, guns and mesquito repellent and off we go into the wild blue ...
