We departed Lake Minnetonka around 10:30a, picked up the hounds and headed north / east. It was nice to drive through a traffic-free Minneapolis and even spotted a few of the University of Minnesota buildings where Mike went to college. What is it about visiting family that invites the urge to indulge in the practice of frequent and frenzied eating!? Is it simply the break from routine that causes an ancient and deep yearning to FEAST!? I feel like whilst traveling an innate and primal urge overtakes me to dine on fine spiced meats (PA), cheeses (WI), and delicious ales (also WI)
Bottom line- I eat and relax in excess when I travel, especially if said travel involves family.

Once we were home I went to go plant new red baby lettuce in the space where I had just weeded this morning. And thank god I didn't see any snakes today!!! I guess it must have been just a little too cold for them... Which was fine for me! I also did chicken chores in ...

... all the different vegetables growing in there! We worked solidly for 4 hours and we broke for lunch at about 2pm. Before lunch and just as I was finishing up weeding and pulling out spinach I spotted a SNAKE in the hoop house looking at me. I got such a fright! Luckily here on the farm there are no venomous snakes or spiders and the snakes that are in the hoop house are either green or common garter snakes. I actually saw 3 of them around the ...
