    We think we have solved the riddle of the crops in the field which I called oats. They were beans. We have seen fields with green/yellowing leaved plants which we knew were beans but the brown stalked plants had us beaten. Today we could stop and look closely - they were beans ready for harvesting. There are obviously different varieties planted as some are quite a golden colour while others are a straw brown.

    Tomorrow, we head for St Louis and north or north east.
