      A pedal to remember.....

... I managed to slot neatly into its groove and turn down the pace of life slightly....allowing some room to really experience the city, the way I think it would have you do it. San Fran is a liberal place, full of people who are comfortable to be just who they are, because the majority of those around you are more eager to embrace you, rather than judge you. There are many ways to experience this city, and perhaps there is a cloth to be cut for us all, but for ...

We stopped at Muir Beach lookout first and walked out to the edge of the cliffs for a fantastic view of the coastline. There was a little deer camouflaged deep in the shrubs, grazing on the vast amount of greens around.

We didnīt manage to see so many of them but it was still quite fascinating to see a bunch of sea lions chilling in the middle of the city. Let us mention a few interesting facts ...

It's going home day, so decided to pack up, go out for a cable car ride - down to one end of California Street, and back to the other, come back and freshen up, then leave our bags at reception at 1.00pm and go for a wander down to Chinatown. Oops! Had a three day pass for the cable cars and today was the fourth. Oh well the guy let us get away with it. We hadn't been on the cable car from one end of California St to the other, and one of the drivers ...

      Happy San Francisco Birthday Deanne

... enough in California. It is a good feeling to be here in Sydney's sister city with Deanne on her milestone birthday. She sensed immediately the truth behind this town: that San Francisco has always been the one American community which has maintained a literary and art vibe at total variance with the prevailing pattern in the USA. During the 1930s San Fran was a strong trade-union town with a politically powerful Left. It was, however, strangely free of the dictates espoused by ...
