The aim today was to drive to the Green Mountains in Vermont - the **** sat nav we've hired likes to take us on long routes so today's drive was 6 hours long! This included driving the length of Manhattan in rush hour in heavy rain and getting lost in a car park. Luckily ...

We looked for possible campsite but everything was shut down for RV's like us.

We continued south along Hwy 7 then crossed over Into eastern upstate New York to catch the Taconic Trail just ...

The scenery was stunning and we enjoyed a brief picnic in the warm sun. Then back into North Adams before climbing up to the highest point in Massachusets, Mt Greylock (almost 4000 ft up), with views ...

"Everybody's talkin'" Harry Nilsson

... a guided tour of his former house and a full description of his history there. We were the only visitors in the torrential rain! Johnstown is close by, not surprisingly, a small typical US town "out in the sticks". It does boast 4 tattoo parlours within the small town centre - why? - and we savoured the homespun charm (or lack of it) at Miss Johnstown's Diner. Health and Safety would probably condemn the place; it ...
