Nice apart from the unusual whistling sound that occurs in Barstow when it's windy. Although thats not the hotels fault at all

So yesterday we entered our final state, California.

In the morning we headed down to Lake Havasu as there was a Speedboat festival going on, honestly it was Speedboats everywhere! Pretty impressive to look at, hundred of high powered boats just parading up and down the lake and the river. Real nice weather and again something completely …

The night proved rather comfortable except for being woken up at 4 am by a raccoon fumbling through nearby garbage cans to eat our leftovers. We broke camp and fell the mile into town to enjoy some Denny's breakfast. This Denny's seemed overwhelmed with the task of running a Denny's, which ...

... the first section of the Sierra Nevada mountains after crossing over into California, we noticed a vast number of wind turbines on the eastern side and the western side after crossing. If the state of CA. paid for these monsters, you can bet some politicians in the state enjoyed a significant kickback. There had to be at least a thousand of those things on the two sides of the mountains. My understanding is the payback on ...

... dark. Oh, but first we had to have one last trip to Weinersnitzel before we leave CA. We each picked somewhere to go......guess who picked which place. :)

Anyway Rainbow Basin was pretty cool with all the different colors and textures. Haven't seen green in rocks before.

This desert basin was formed ...
