... into a Winter Wonderland: snowy, windy, and very cold! The rainstorm that we got was a snow storm up higher.

Coming out of the mountains, the weather and the landscape changed radically from snowy and sparse to the rich colors of a desert - oranges, browns, and greens. As we travel through Montana today, we are in wonder at the vast open spaces of the west. What a beautiful country!

Left Deadwood mid morning and drove 200 miles to Sheridan, South Dakota. It was a very grey, wet and foggy day so the scenery wasn't much unfortunately.

Stopped in a small town called Spearfish for lunch at the Sanford Pub & Grub - great pub with lots of different memorabilia around the walls and good food too.

... panoramic view of the Sheridan Valley but then had a steep decent to the town of Sheridan where we stayed the night at a KOA campground.

At the end of the day Mom said I tested her new pacemaker! She said it was clicking and fluttering faster than normal - I guess that means she was not comfortable driving through the Big Horn Mountain Pass - but she loved the scenery just the same!

Peeling, flaking, rundown. It's 2 star at best but more likely one star. The front desk girl was very friendly and helpful though
