Had breakfast in the hotel and when we left it seemed a lot warmer this morning. We decided to follow the guide book and go to Hot Springs but as soon as we left it absolutely poured, you could hardly see the cars in front - amazingly some didn't even have their lights on but once it stopped the ride was nice into Hot Springs. Apparently it had been a favourite resort of gangsters back in the 30s before they moved on ...

... across the panhandle of Texas with huge beef cattle ranches and cheap gas ($3.19/gallon). Near Amarillo, the map showed an icon for historic Cadillac ranch. I thought it was a bordello but I was way wrong. Out a ways in a field, a farmer planted ten old cadillacs up to the side mirrors of the cars.
