Our day started in LaCrosse with large storm cells approaching from the West. We waited the thunderstorm out and got on the road at 9am about two hours later than normal. The morning air was still cool from the rain and wind was minimal as we headed toward Lyons. Great Bend at the 36 mile mark was a ...

After our adventurous night at the Railroad Hotel we were able to drive around the town and see what we missed arriving at night.
One of the signs that we saw there that we found very interesting was one listing a phone number to call to get land for free.

The Dala herd is found all through Lindsborg, but we only strolled Main Street stopping and reading the various Dala plaques as we went. Most Dalas are created by someone in honor of someone else. The names can be quite hilarious, and the art work is phenomenal. We didn't take pictures of all that we saw, but we did snap a few of the ones we liked best.

On my way out of town I stopped at Coronado Heights Park, a small hill on the outskirts of town, but for Kansas this a virtual mountain. I couldn’t help but think about one of my favorite fortune cookie fortunes ever: “Man Who Makes Mountain Out of Molehill Should Open Ski Resort in Kansas”. The day was warm and sunny, but I could look across the beautiful ...
