... The day starts out a little cooler than yesterday, probably because it’s overcast. We’ve heard horror stories about the heat over the last two weeks, so a little cloud cover will be just nice. Reluctantly, we depart the little shady enclave of western Olympia and re-join the dreaded I-5. The traffic is better than yesterday, but still way worse than we’re used to back in little ole Toowoomba. No worries, we’ll be turning off for ...

... afternoon had lunch with Shirlee, who runs the children's ministry. Again, connecting and sharing life stories. Love this part of ministry. What a blessing it was. In just a little bit I will be off to the children's ministry where I get to share with them. Nice to slow down for a day, although I was busy, it felt good to not drive much.

After all this travel, Amelia was plain tuckered out and was thrilled to lay her head down last night.

... In Astoria we took highway 101, the scenic bypass, that routed us through the small villages, ports, and coastal vacation towns along the Pacific coast. We got to the village of Netarts Bay. The Schooner restaurant was at a curve in the road and it was dinnertime, so we decided to give it a try. This restaurant was such a 'west coast' type of restaurant. We opted for the open air dining so we could watch the small boats come and go out of the bay. ...

... is extremely long and runs alongside a cliff. The building is four stories high and is more than adequate for our needs. Our room has views straight out onto the the Pacific Ocean through a large window in the front of the lounge window and a light house at each end of a very long beach.

Before tea we went for a long walk along the beach and paddled in the cold water of the Ocean.

Then a lovely dinner and to bed early.
