... Then we happened upon "Art on the River" - a whole area filled with a wide variety of artists. We ate lunch at "Clingman's Cafe" and sat outside on a sunny patio - lovely! We spent the rest of the day exploring the artists' studios and meeting the artists. We returned home for a bit of down time and then a pot luck dinner with Jim and Sue in our NEW HOME. ... chose the route to Mt. Mitchell via Blue Ridge Pkwy. However, partway along, we found that the road was closed. No guardrail. I did the run down in second gear, regretting every once of extra weight on Judy Too. She a heavy girl to swing around those tight turns. Anyway made it to the bottom of this gorge only to realize the gas station ...

On the road again

... charming (must see that cool coffee place that is actually a bus). And really, that's what we did, we drove through, got gas, and hit the open road to Virginia.

Funny thing is, I rely sooo much on mobile technology, that I didn't bother getting a road map. I left it to my trusty iPhone's Maps App to lead us to our final destination. Hmm, are there cell phone towers along these country highways--that would be--NOT ALWAYS. Imagine my ...
