Room ok but not large but found booking in extremely frustrating as I had to talk to someone behind a plastic guard and could not see him very well let alone he understand me or me understand him. Not the sort of welcome i expect. First impressions mean a lot and for the first time in America it made me feel uneasy about the place i was staying

We all met after lunch and boarded the bus. The moment that the boys stepped onto the bus they got into their individual zones. The bus trip to Mira Costa State High School took us about 25 mins. This ...

After getting fuel, and then G taking a wrong turn off, we eventually dropped off our rental car off and from there take the monorail to the airport. Then we get stuck behind a bunch of Japs who were ALL overweight (luggage) and were just handing over cash, opening up their bags to re-organise things, and taking forever to actually check-in. Grant ...

... gone for about an hour longer than it needed to.

After a late dinner, we make our way back to the hotel. I have had a great day, but I have to say that Los Angeles is not my favourite place in the world. It is huge (geographically), pretty dirty and totally full of hawkers and many, many beggars. It seems very wrong to me to be guided through Beverly Hills where you view the mansions of the rich and famous, then return to the streets of the poor and ignored. I find it very ...

... the swimming pool. 33 deg C here, stifling heat, quite humid. The staff were helpful and very accommodating.

Very quiet night, probably best sleep so far. We headed back to JFK driving through NY City, thank goodness in a taxi, cost $89US and took 2 hours from Jersey City because we drove through Manhattan and traffic was diabolical!

Our hotel was a basic airport hotel, good beds and quiet, the start of waiting begins. Had to be at airport ...

... half one, we decided to instead spend the afternoon round the pool at my apartment which was lovely since it was really the first time we'd chilled since being here. In the evening we went to a restaurant called "Wokano" - a sushi and Asian bar. The food was delicious and the staff were extremely friendly. I look forward to taking anyone who comes to visit J
