Geysir, Mudpools und verfaulte Eier
... dem kulturellen und geologischen Zentrum Neuseelands. Hier gibt es den groessten Geysir, doch dafuer muss man eine Tour machen und sie verlangen einfach zu viel dafuer. Wir wuerden auch gerne etwas ueber die Maori lernen, doch es ist einfach zu teuer. So essen wir lecker Sushi zum Mittag und schlendern etwas durch die Gassen, bevor wir weiter nach Norden fahren und schliesslich in Matata halt machen um zu kampieren. Wir sind hier direkt am Strand und geniessen weiterhin schoenes Wetter.

... a treasure hunt. There are new and different shells and things at each beach we visit.
In the evening we went through the town centre and stopped at the chinese and got a very nice meal, enough to feed a football team.
We went up to the lookout and had a fantastic view over the city, the harbor and the ocean.
Instead of a birthday cake we had an ice cream at a restaurant.

Fun in Whakatane
... that evening at the riverside ampitheatre just for something a bit different but were too tired after a days walking. So we had some delicious homemade steak burgers and retired to bed for some light reading.
